The Crossways premises are the historic home of Yardley Hastings United Reformed Church which was founded in 1672. The current chapel was built in 1815 and is a listed building.

In 2005 the East Midlands Synod of the United Reformed Church began to explore ways of renewing this valuable resource and of sharing it with many more people. The Synod committed itself to create Crossways in the Yardley Hastings premises as a place where people can meet and share and grow.
